Be Healthy Lunch Program

We all want our children in Central Florida to be healthier, and part of being healthy is eating well-balanced meals with a variety of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Unfortunately, sometimes it is hard to get our children to eat that way. But, Florida Hospital, the Orlando Magic, and Wholesome Tummies are partnering to make it easier for at least one class in Orange or Seminole county to get a free, healthy lunch for the entire 2010 school year.

Our three organizations are coming together to provide a nutritious lunch and nutrition education for one winning class (kindergarten – sixth grade) in Orange and Seminole Counties. The lunch will be prepared fresh everyday using only pure and wholesome ingredients, full of fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, made with organic and all-natural ingredients, without trans-fats, high fructose corn syrup, nitrates, artificial colors and flavors. The lunches will be approved by a registered dietician and delivered by Wholesome Tummies. In addition, Florida Hospital will provide weekly nutrition education for the class based on time allotted at the direction of the teacher.

The Be Healthy lunch program is a pilot and is only being offered to private elementary schools (kindergarten – sixth grade) in Orange and Seminole counties.

The deadline for submitting your application was January 22, 2010. Thank you to all that applied for the Be Healthy Lunch Program.
